A note from our founder on why URRKN:
On October 31, 2011 I was frustrated with the carelessness of airlines with regards to the care for our family members, our pets. I asked myself “Why doesn’t somebody do something about this?” Then I realized that I was “somebody”. You see about 15 years earlier an airline lost one of our cats. She was missing for 5 days, after her stay in ICU she was fine and we were reunited, but this time Jack was not so lucky. The attitude of the airlines really has not changed much. They treat our pets, our family as cargo. When the unthinkable happened, we were offered $7.00 a pound! So this “somebody” started a group: Underground Railroad Rescued Kitty Network We drive rescued kitties to their new forever homes using a chain of volunteers across the entire country.
